Day 54

Collier Junior Classics! Did anyone have these when they were little? Maybe this is why these are my favorite colors to this day. The only books I grabbed when I was younger, were these. When I got a little older, it was all about Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys..  I still have these books, and have read some of the stories to the kids when they were little. It's amazing how other things have taken over, like more interactive books, DS games, Ipads, and other things to occupy their time. I wish my kids were more readers, but they follow example, right? I don't just sit down and read that often, I am too guilt ridden thinking I am wasting time and run to do laundry, wash dishes, check on what's going on in the world on TV..etc. More often than not, I can't find one that will completely hold my attention. The ones I have, though.. grabbed me, and I couldn't let them go. I could probably count them on one hand.

The books, though, are a great memory of my childhood. If you notice, there is supposed to be 1-10. My mom wasn't into the magical kind of movies, so I'm pretty sure she just got rid of the "Magic in the Air" Book 3. My brother was a history lover, so I'm pretty sure the "Gifts from the Past" Book 10 is with him. That's fine.. I may jump online and grab the other 2 someday.. just to look at.. on the shelf. :) Then, my practical side, is that even worth it? Probably not, but it's in my mind! Maybe that counts.

Day 54
Settings:
ISO 400, f/1.8 (really loving this lately, huh?), ss 1/125, 50 mm, no flash
2 fun textures added, then erased it off the words of the books. Took a quick couple extra seconds..

How great that you still have these. A nicely composed shot!

I've never heard of them. Nice shot though. I was a Nancy Drew girl too.

Love the colors and clearity of your shot. I was never a reader, I prefered to be drawing, but my brother read every time he could find a minute when he wasn't busy..lol..he use to take a book and go hide from my Granny so he could read. 2 of my boys read all the time too.
I'd still rather draw or play with my camera.

I like the texture! So fun that you still have these. I have to admit that I'm not all that familiar with them. I didn't get into reading until I was older. But I'll have to check them out... for the heck of it.... once I get over my guilt b/c I totally hear ya on that one.

Ahhh, books. My favorite thing. I feel guilty that I'm NOT reading enough! The missing books would totally bug me; I'd have to get them straight away. If nothing else, just to place them on the shelf to admire with the others. :) Great shot!

Yay for books! Great shot, I love the composition. Now that I ride the train into work and have 2 hours a day to read...I love it, what took me so long to pick up a good book again! ;) I'd highly recommend the Book Theif--awesome read!! ;)

I was never a great reader as a child, but I do enjoy a good book now. Excellent job with the texture.

Beautiful shot of the books. I LOVE that they are stacked so neatly. I probably would have had them staggered and never would have thought to make them straight, but I love it!

I don't remember these. I remember Laura Ingall's Wilder and Little House on the Prairie. I wish my Mom had saved them. I need to find the series for my daughter.

Great post!

I still have a lot of my old books and remember how they took me away to magical places. I didn't have this set but I can't wait to start reading my old Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books with my daughter! I love the DOF and texture you used on this shot; it really makes me feel them. BTW, thanks for your super sweet comments about my little cowgirl. You made my day!

I remember these - we had some for Ewok & Princess when they were little but handed them on again. Great shot.
